Emergency service vehicles, a race car and a helicopter all were part of Saturday’s Touch-A-Truck event Saturday in Warsaw’s Central Park.

Stephanie Schaefer, Warsaw parks and recreation director, said all the goody bags were gone by about 2 p.m. so she estimated 600 to 700 people attended the three-hour event. She described the traffic flow as “steady” and noted they added food vendors and a free bounce house for the kids to this year’s event.

Brian Walsh, Blessed Beginnings, provided the helicopter. He said it was once owned by legendary comedian Lucille Ball and showed a picture of her in the helicopter.

Kensington Media provided two SUVs and a pop tent; Lutheran EMS provided an ambulance; and Bobcat of Warsaw had a compact tractor and skid steer loader for kids and adults alike to see.

Metzger Trucking had a semi, while the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory had a fire truck. The dive bus, police truck and boat on a trailer from the Warsaw Police Department were on hand.

GreenMark Equipment had a tractor on hand, Ozinga had a ready mix truck while Crouse provided a larger wrecker. Kuert Concrete also had a ready mix cement mixer at the park.

Warsaw Street Department had four trucks, include two camera trucks, while John Gibson provided his street stock race car.

Children could get in a Warsaw Community Schools bus, or they could check out the heavy duty pick-up truck from Warsaw Buick GMC. Finally, a 1983 AM 925 General Army truck was a popular vehicle for the children to see.
