A juvenile female pedestrian was injured Sunday afternoon after being hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

According to information provided by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Doug Light, at 2:36 p.m., KCSO deputies were dispatched to a vehicle-pedestrian accident on Old 30, just west of CR 100N, Warsaw.

During the investigation, officers determined a gray 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Chelsea Davila, 20, was westbound on Old 30 when a 13-year-old female entered the roadway from the south side of the road, running north. The girl ran into the path of the Jeep.

The juvenile was flown from the scene by Lutheran Air to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of a right leg injury and possible head injury. The condition of the juvenile was unknown as of press time Sunday. Her name was not released.

The driver of the Jeep was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital for a medical evaluation, according to KCSO.

KCSO was assisted at the scene by Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air, Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory and the Warsaw Police Department.
