NEW PARIS - A Syracuse man was injured when his motorcycle was hit by a truck driven by a Warsaw man 1 mile south of the town limits of New Paris.
An Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release states that a 2012 Dodge Ram, driven by Luke Byrer, 21, Warsaw, was northbound on CR 127, turning south onto CR 29 at about 6:47 a.m. Thursday. A 1998 Harley Davidson XL883, driven by Jered Slabaugh, 25, Syracuse, was traveling north on CR 29 when the Dodge Ram traveled left of center and collided with the motorcycle on CR 29.
Byrer was cited for driving left of center causing injury. Byrer did not report any injuries and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The Dodge Ram sustained front-end damage.
Slabaugh was taken to Goshen Hospital for leg and arm pain. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Harley Davidson sustained damage all over.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, the crash news release states.
