A South Bend man was in critical condition Monday night after a single-vehicle accident on Ind. 25 north of Ferguson Road.

Dennis David Hurst, 65, suffered an injury to his head and was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

Initial reports indicate that a 2006 Chevrolet HHR, driven by Hurst, was traveling north on Ind. 25 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the east shoulder of the road. After Hurst overcorrected, the HHR crossed the west side of the road and hit a NIPSCO utility pole. Hurst was ejected from the vehicle, according to the release.

The crash, which occurred around 6:15 p.m., remains under investigation by the KCSO Fatal Team.

Responding agencies included the KCSO, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Warsaw Police Department and Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance.
