MILFORD – A motorcyclist was injured Sunday night after his vehicle hit a car that was in the midst of making a U-turn.

Kenneth D. Metzler, 61, Goshen, appeared to have suffered a broken right ankle and possibly had other injuries 10:41 p.m. Sunday accident, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department report.

Metzler was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

The incident occurred on North Ind. 15, 200 feet south of West CR 900N, Milford.

The report said a 2010 Cadillac driven by Alonzo Jackson Jr., 76, Elkhart, was going south on Ind. 15 and Jackson was looking for CR 900N. He missed his turn at 900N and slowed to make a U-turn.

Metzler was on his 2005 Honda motorcycle behind the Cadillac. Metzler began to pass Jackson’s Cadillac as it stopped in the road. As the motorcycle was passing the car, Jackson began to make the U-turn and turned into the path of the bike.

The motorcycle hit the front left corner of the car, with the collision causing the bike to fall onto its side. The motorcycle and Metzler ended up in the ditch on the east side of the road.

Metzler was wearing a helmet.

Jackson was not hurt in the accident.
