LEESBURG – Maple Leaf Farms recently donated approximately 12,000 pounds of fully-cooked, individually-wrapped frozen half ducks to Gleaners Food Bank in Indianapolis.
This donation is part of the company’s year-long recognition of its 60th anniversary.
“Supporting hunger relief organizations has been a primary goal of our family’s charitable giving program for decades,” said Co-President John Tucker. “We understand that the high quality protein products we market are too often in short supply at organizations like Gleaners.”
For the past several years, the company has regularly supported other Feeding America members like the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and Community Harvest Food Bank with donations of duck and chicken products. It also donates food and funds to local food pantries throughout Kosciusko County.
“The charities we work with have taught us that nutritious foods like poultry are always a great need,” said Co-President Scott Tucker. “We are pleased that these individually-wrapped, fully cooked duck products will be easy for Gleaners to distribute and nutritious for the households they serve.”
