The Libertarian Party of Kosciusko County recently held its annual convention at Mi Lindo Acapulco.

The local Kosciusko County affiliate of the Libertarian Party was formed in January 2021 after the second-place finish Donald Rainwater garnered in the 2020 gubernatorial race, according to a news release from the Libertarian Party.

The local chapter is chaired by Cassie Rolon with the assistance of Vice Chair David Lewis, Secretary Amber Stump and Treasurer Amy Brown.

During Tuesday’s convention, delegates to the annual state convention were nominated and recessed their convention meeting to March 13 to gain more local candidates.

The Libertarian Party of Indiana has two declared candidates for U.S. Senate, James Sceniak and William Henry, the release states. Both were on hand to speak at the convention but the most important race the LPIN can run is the secretary of state race and the LPIN nominee is Jeff Maurer for 2022, according to the release. Maurer has a three-point plan as secretary of state:

1. Every vote must be recorded on a paper ballot, which means every voting machine must produce a paper ballot.

2. Every voter must receive a receipt to validate their vote, which means every voter receives a copy of the ballot they cast.

3. Every election must be audited prior to the results being certified.

Maurer believes that every vote must be counted and every vote must be validated. Find more information about Maurer at www.MaurerforIndiana.com.

Libertarians are not allowed to participate in primaries in Indiana, according to the news release, but will select their nominees at their annual state convention on March 5 in Fishers.
