Funeral services for Zachery Richard Potts, 27, Mishawaka, and Emma Lynn Thomson, 28, Washington, D.C., were announced over the weekend.

Potts and Thomson were two of four people killed Wednesday when the Toyota RAV4 Potts was driving on Ind. 19, south of Ind. 119, went over the center line and crashed with a Buick LeSabre driven by Edith Jo Schmucker, 56, Nappanee.

All four people in the two vehicles were killed, including District 2 U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, 58, Elkhart, who was in Potts’ vehicle. Thomson was Walorski’s communications director.

Potts was the county Republican chair for St. Joe County and a member of Walorski’s staff. He often could be found at the Kosciusko County GOP fish fry and similar events.

Thomson was born in Clearfield, Pa., according to her obituary from Harris Funeral Home, Johnstown, Pa. She was a 2015 graduate of George Washington University. While in college, she interned for two semesters for U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. After graduation, her first political experience in Washington was working for the 2016 presidential campaign for Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. Prior to working for Walorski, she was the communications director and campaign manager for U.S. House Rep. Dr. John Joyce of Pennsylvania.

Friends of Thomson will be received from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Westmonth Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne St., Johnstown, Pa., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Private entombment will be at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation for Potts will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at Calvary Tabernacle, 606 N. Elm St., Three Oaks, Mich. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. following the visitation.

Services for Walorski and Schmucker were announced Friday.

Visitation for Schmucker will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, according to the funeral home’s website.

Visitation for Walorski will be noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Granger Community Church, 630 E. University Drive, Granger. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, also at the church, according to the Palmer Funeral Homes website.
