MILFORD – A 36-year-old Etna Green man was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after his car crashed in to a tree near Milford Tuesday night.

Todd A. Wilson, North Ind. 19, Etna Green, was westbound on West CR 1350N when his 2000 Chrysler Cirrus veered left, crossed the centerline, left the road and struck a tree just east of CR 200W at 9:18 p.m.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s accident report, the vehicle sustained “devasting damage” and left Wilson trapped inside.

After being extricated from the vehicle, Wilson was taken by ambulance to a nearby parking lot, where he was taken by helicopter to Fort Wayne for treatment of leg  injuries.

In the report, compiled by Sgt. Travis Shively, Wilson admitted he had been drinking and had an open container in his vehicle.

An investigation for impaired driving is continuing, and the report will be supplemented once the results of a blood draw for alcohol are received.

The sheriff’s department was assisted at the scene by the Milford and Nappanee fire departments, Milford and Syracuse police and Lutheran EMS.
