The tentative polling locations in Kosciusko County for the 2020 primary were decided on Friday by the Election Board.

The locations for the June 2 primary may not be the same ones as the November general election, depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The primary originally was scheduled for May 5.

“The Election Board is going to do everything it can for the safety of voters,” Kosciusko Republican Central Committee Chair Mike Ragan said Friday evening.

Poll workers will be given masks and gloves, and voters will be given the option of using Q-tips if they don’t want to touch the voting screen, he said. Republican poll workers will be given their instructions from Ragan beginning Monday.

The polling locations changed to allow for social distancing and are inside due to the potential of inclement weather.

“We’ve had twice as many people voting by mail than previous elections, so far,” Ragan said.

According to the website for county clerk’s office, any county voter who wants to vote by mail should contact the clerk’s office at 574-372-2332, option 1, to receive an application for an absentee ballot; or they can follow the link at www.kcgov.com/egov/documents/1585231279_74153.pdf.

Voter registration ends May 4 for the June 2 primary election.

In order to vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen, must be 18 by the time of the general election and must be a resident of their precinct for 30 days prior to the general election. A person does not declare a party affiliation at the time of registration, and no other person may register for you. Registration for elections may be done at the county clerk’s office in the Kosciusko County Justice Building main floor or online at indianavoters.in.gov.

Absentee voting is available.

Contact the Kosciusko County Voter Registration Office for more information. The Voter Registration Office phone number is 574-372-2332.

Limited early in-person voting will be available for one week, from May 26 to June 1, in the Kosciusko County Justice Building, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw.

Bring in an Indiana or federal-issued photo I.D. No reason to vote early in-office is needed.

Early voting dates and hours for the primary election are May 26-29, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; May 30, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; June 1, 8 a.m. to noon in Kosciusko County.
