Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals approved the following petitions at its meeting Tuesday morning:

• Greg and Gordonell Horton were granted a variance that temporarily permits two homes on one tract of land at 1773 E. CR 800S in Clay Township. The couple wants to occupy the current residence while building a new home. The variance was approved with the condition the old residence be torn down by April 9.





• Donald Mort was granted a variance to allow a residence to remain as built 6 feet from a sideline, and allow two decks to be built at 673 N. Center St. W in North Webster. Mort must either provide a new survey showing that the structure meets the approved setbacks or re-petition the BZA.

• Matthew Klotz was granted a variance to allow two residences instead of a residence and an office at 11888 N. Treasure Island Road, Cromwell.

• Jeremy and Shauna Young were granted a variance to construct a residence addition at 8264 E. Highland View Drive, Syracuse. The petition was approved at 20 feet to the foundation of the new construction with the overhang no closer then 18-1/2 feet to the right of way.

• Darrell and Debra Brynum were granted a pair of variances for construction at 41 EMS B31 Lane, Warsaw. The first variance allows an accessory building to be uncombined from the house and be associated with a lot to have a future home. The second allows the property to be redivided, resulting in a lot at 7,820 square feet and an existing garage at 3 feet from a new property line.

• The Kaufman Family Farm requested a variance at 8788 W. CR 700N, Etna Green, that would allow a pole building to remain as constructed 18 feet from the right of way of CR 700N (permit issued at 50 feet) and an addition to a pole barn at 18  feet  from the right of way.

• Craig and Tracy Williams were granted a variance to build a residence addition at 130 EMS B40 Lane, Leesburg, 15 feet from the right-of-way.

• Craig Luthy was granted permission to build a roof over a deck at 81 EMS W16A Lane, North Webster.

• Patricia Pentecost got permission to build an open porch 1 foot from the east property line at 6398 W. Roy Drive, Claypool.

• Duane and Gina Yoder were given permission to build a 40-foot by 100-foot agricultural building 15 feet from the east property line when ordinance requires 20 feet at 13790 N. CR 950W, Nappanee. The Yoders had asked to build within 5 feet of the property line.

• Jonathan and Amanda Scroggs were granted permission to operate a home-based business, an entertainment facility, in a agricultural district at 2066 N. CR 100E, Warsaw.

A petition from Joel Wihebrink to build three warehouses in a residential district was withdrawn.

Barbara Satterfield dropped her request for permission to build an attached garage 17 feet from the roadway at 3605 N. Barbee Road, Warsaw.

Rosella Felts’ petition to allow an attached carport to remain in place 3 feet from a property line and 21 feet, 4 inches from the road at 5450 W. Sycamore Hill Lane, Silver Lake, was continued to the Nov. 13 meeting.

Terry and Deborah Kreft’s petition to build a guest home at  1100 W. CR 700S, Claypool, was tabled until the Nov. 13 meeting at the Krefts’ request.
