Does your dog have what it takes to be a star on the Wagon Wheel stage?

The Wagon Wheel is searching for two dogs for its upcoming summer production of “Legally Blonde, the Musical.”

Requirements:

* For the role of Bruiser (Elle’s dog), the Wagon Wheel is looking for a Chihuahua or any toy-sized pooch that would easily fit in a handbag.

If you have outfits or accessories for your dog, the Wagon Wheel would love to see them.

* For the role of Rufus (Paulette’s dog), the Wagon Wheel is looking for a British Bulldog as appeared in the film.

The theater is open to other breeds, but they need to have that look about them. Fairly bullish and robust. Cute and fluffy is not what we are looking for here.

The dogs must be relaxed, laid back, good with people and strangers and enjoy a good fuss. The dogs must respond to “come here,” “sit,” etc. and don’t just wander off doing their own thing.

Wagon Wheel doesn’t expect the dogs to do tricks, but let the theater know if your furbaby has any.

Although absolutely not essential, if the dog has some form of stage experience of being around large crowds, it will be a huge bonus. Even the most confident of dogs can suddenly be affected by the lights, the orchestra and the huge round of applause they are bound to receive on their big entrance.

Crate training is also a bonus while they are enjoying their time offstage.

Rehearsals begin June 3 and the show runs June 16-25. Minimal rehearsal during the day and weekends but mandatory rehearsals will be June 14 evening, June 15 afternoon and evening and, of course, every performance.

See the show schedule on the Wagon Wheel website.

If you think your dog would suit the show, email a photo of your dog with a brief description to Jennifer Dow, associate artistic director, at jen@wagonwheelcenter.org.

Don't forget to include your own details and put “Dog Auditions” in the subject bar. Submission deadline is May 1.
