10 years:
An open house for the Mentone Community Emergency Services Building was held April 17. The building is on Main Street where the former town hall was. The building includes emergency vehicle bays, a foyer, storage rooms, the town clerk-treasurer's office, police department, restrooms, a large meeting room and the living and commons area for the emergency services. It includes a lounge, kitchen area and two sleeping rooms each with room for three people to catch up on their rest.

25 Years:

Amber Lynn Utter, 11, Rochester, has been selected as a candidate in the 1991 Miss Indiana National Pre-Teen and Pre-Teen Petite Pageant to be held May 17-19 in Columbus Holiday Inn. The pageant is the official state pageant for the National Pre-Teen and Pre-Teen Petite Pageant to be held this fall in Florida. Utter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Road Utter, Rochester. She is a fifth-grade student at Akron Elementary School.

50 Years:

The Syracuse Town Board approved a resolution to dedicate the newly constructed Front Street bridge as a memorial to the last Jethro Greider. The estate allotted $10,000 to the town to be used for park facilities and the board voted to transfer $5,000 to a fund to be used for the development of Railroad Park.

75 Years:

Howard Draper, 18-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilma Draper, Warsaw, suffered a deep laceration across the nose in an automobile accident late Thursday afternoon.  According to reports made to police, Draper lost control of her car on a road near the Roy Bussing farm and the car went into the ditch.
