10 Years
Triton High School varsity cheer squad was fourth at Cheer Ltd. in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Members are Kayla Kindig, Sierra Mitchell, Brenna Hoffer, Cassie Heath, April Kuhn, Darrien Duff, Stan Cripps, Zach Bradley, Joe LaChance, Jessica and Melissa Harner, Greg Anderson, Ashley Nordmann and Heather Wallace.

    Tippecanoe Valley Middle School 6th-grade girls won the Rochester Invitational, ending their season with a perfect 14-0 record: Danielle Miller, Mallory and Megan Ringle, Shelby Boggs, Staci Groom, Alisha Portalo, Brooke O'Connor, Megan Bibler, Tony Keirn and Leah Sponseller. Coaches are Tim Carpenter and Randy Dickey.

25 Years

Sherry Foster, a sophomore at Warsaw Community High School, came away with top honors at the district level competition of the Indiana Conservation Public Speaking Contest. She received a framed certificate, a $100 savings bond, and a chance to compete at the area level contest at Oregon-Davis High School. This was the 25th year of the contest.

    The Tippecanoe Valley High School Winter Guard placed second in the Indiana High School Color Guard Association State Finals held Saturday, March 23, in Indianapolis. The team won a 5-foot trophy, and each member received an Olympic-style silver medal. The Guard were Class B state champions in 1990, and are directed by Marcie and Michael Pearson. Warsaw's Tigerettes placed 10th in the Class A prelims.

50 Years

Welcome Wagon Card Party and Style Show Wednesday, March 23, at the Shrine Building: Mrs. Robert Rhinesmith and Mrs. Ron Hoskins, co-chairmen; Mrs. Robert Hardin, president; Mrs. Tony Zykan, vice president. The latest fashions from the Town and Country Shop will be modeled.

    Warren Hawley, 55, Route 2, Nappanee, filed for renomination as trustee of Scott Township. He is a farmer and member of Camp Creek Church of the Brethren.

    Larwill School spellers: Cynthia Juillerat, winner, 6th-grade; Jill Fry, 8th-grade, runner-up. South Whitley School: David Graham, winner, fifth-grade; Denise Judy, 7th-grade, runner-up. Mrs. Martha Yohe was chairman for the event.

75 Years

A petition signed by Clem Jones and 233 others was presented to the county commissioners Tuesday, March 4, requesting the black-topping of a Seward  township road known as the "Anglin Road," which runs southwesterly from a point one mile south of Burket to the Beaver Dam school road.

    An intra-class basketball tourney is underway in Warsaw. Tuesday night, March 4, the Juniors defeated the Sophomores, 27 to 24, after a surprising last half rally by Norman Hankins, Eddie Underhill, Bob Gill and Bud Perkins, which almost overtook the favored Juniors. Winner of the Senior-Freshman tilt Wednesday night will meet the Juniors for the title Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the armory.
