10 Years
The Warsaw Community High School Winter Percussion Ensemble placed second at the Indiana Percussion Association State Finals Saturday, March 25, their 10th consecutive trip. Members are Taylor Crane, Cyrus Felton, Rily Franklin, Thomas Friddle, Sam Gillis, Eric Green, Michael Hall, Justin Hurt, Clarke Joyner, Nathan LaFountain, Cary Lewis, Tara Pettit, Danny Reynolds, James and Ian Trafny, Crystal Watters and Adam Wishart. World Finals competition is in Dayton, Ohio, April 21-22; WCHS is a 3-time world finalist and the 2005 bronze medalist in the world concert class.

   Jefferson Elementary School has formed "The Homework Club" after school. Coordinators are Barbara Lainez and Libby Albert.

25 Years

Michelle Mansfield presented the 1991 K.A.F.E. Lumina Award to Adrienne Clark, Warsaw. The award is given annually to a person who actively seeks to further the careers of women. Clark is an associate instructor at Ivy Tech, member of the advisory board of Project Independence and free lance writer and speaker. For many years, she wrote a column in The Times-Union called "Women in Motion."

     Warsaw Community High School winter sports MVP and MIP awards March 26: Beth Pering, cheerleading; Chris Brandt and Aaron Whitehead, swimming; Kara Hackworth and Deb Wilson, gymnastics; Dan Hatch and Aaron Wilson, wrestling; Tim Taylor, Todd Szymanski, Chad Scott and Dan Elliott, boys basketball; Kim Harrison, Liza Reed and Dana Creighton, girls basketball.

50 Years
Wenda Wildman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wildman, Warsaw, is winner of the spelling contest at Adams School, and will represent her school in the county spelling contest in April. Laverne Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, Warsaw, is runner-up. Both girls are in the sixth-grade class of Mrs. Ronald (Willa) Henry. Adams principal is Russell Harman.

    Washington School Spelling Contest: Kenneth Detwiler, 6th-grade, is the winner for the second year; Laura Potter, 5th-grade, is runner-up.

    Warsaw High School delegates to attend Boys State at Indiana University in June: Tom Kelty, David Titus, Steve Wildman and Jan Essenburg. Alternates: John Petro, Dan Robinson, Lex Dalton and Jerry Cochern.

75 Years

Mrs. Robert D. Brown, of 919 East Center Street, tells The Times-Union office that she discovered several snowdrop flowers in bloom nodding at her from beneath shrubbery at her home Monday morning, March 3, after Sunday night's rain. Snowdrops, small white blossoms, are a harbinger of spring.

    I.W. Sharp, Civil War veteran, who resides at 910 East Fort Wayne Street, reached his 93rd birthday anniversary Sunday, March 9. On Monday, March 3, Dr. Samuel Murphy turned either 56 or 57.

    Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Hawley, of this city, spent Monday evening in Fort Wayne, where Mr. Hawley attended a radio service meeting at WOWO radio studios, regarding the changing of the wave bands of the radio stations on March 29.
