The latest addition to Dale Stockman's collection of "things" is a 70-year-old filling station he rescued from the wrecker's ball. The small wooden building was to be demolished to make way for a branch office of the First State Bank in Bourbon. In his youth, Stockman would accompany his father to Pete and Edith Perry's gas station, where he would buy a nickel bottle of pop. Bank officials gave the structure to him, and it now sets on the edge of a pine woods near his home at 9524 12th Road, Bourbon. He has three old-style gasoline pumps, an air hose, two oil can display racks with the cans, a Coca Cola cooler and pop bottles, a lighted Cities Service sign, and a neon window sign that says Myer's Ice Cream, a Bourbon product of 50 years ago. Of his restoration project, he says "the doing is the fun."
