10 Years
Kralis Bros. Foods will close Friday, Feb. 24. Valley Fresh, Inc.,Turlock, Calif., which owns the Mentone plant, is negotiating to sell Kralis Bros. to an undisclosed company. "If that happens, we resume operations next week," said plant manager Mike Parker. "That's the goal."

    Suzie Light, Warsaw, daughter of the late Jerry Kralis, said her grandfather, Joseph Kralis, and three brothers began the company in Gary in 1939. Her father started the Mentone plant in 1951. Kralis was sold to Flowers Foods in 1973, but Jerry continued to work for the company the next 10 years before retiring. Both her father and grandfather sold chicken products to Campbell Soup Company.

25 Years

On the Northern Lakes All-Conference girls basketball team: Warsaw-Dana Creighton, Liza Reed, Kim Harrison; NorthWood-Eva Klopfenstein, Heather Smith, Annisa Blosser; Lisa Mikel, Wawasee. Honorable mention: Jennifer Kintzel and Heather Hanna, Warsaw; Krista Scheumann, NorthWood. Warsaw coach Will Wienhorst was named Coach of the Year.

    For the fourth time in the last five years, the Times-Union Area Player of the Year has been a Whitko Wildcat player. Steve Nicodemus is the choice for 1991. His all-around abilities made him the front runner. He is the state's fourth-leading scorer.

    Cheryl Prewitt Salem, crowned Miss America in 1980, will present an all-day program of music and ministry March 9 at 2517 Wagon Wheel dinner club. The event includes a luncheon followed by a fashion show of Salem's own label.

50 Years

Cub Scout Pack 67 meets at Lincoln School with Cubmaster Harold Nichols: Kenny and Phillip Schue, Kyle Wallen, Ricky Banghart, Scott Miller, Alex McGregor, Jim Harris, Max Ketrow, Mike Whitaker, Steve Boyd, Lane Shipp, Bob Dennis, Howard Fitz.

    Washington School Fish Fry Saturday, Feb. 12: Students with the most ticket sales: Nancy Olinger, Steve Deeter, Sherri Metzger, Jim Lowman, Duane Thompson, Jo Ann Stauffer, Cindy Klondaris and John Carlson, who topped the group with $100.

    Leesburg High School instructor Lawrence Hudson, Rt. 1, Claypool, received a plaque from Principal Charles Garner at halftime of the Leesburg/Claypool basketball game at the Warsaw gym Saturday, Feb. 12. "It's not a retirement, but simply an appreciation of his 23 years of devoted instruction to students of Plain Township."

75 Years

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lozier celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family Saturday, February 1 north of Warsaw on the Chapman Lake road, their home for the past 29 years. Both Mr. Lozier, 75, and his wife, 69, were born northeast of Etna Green. They have five surviving children: Mrs. Roy Anderson, north of Warsaw; Harry, Ernest and Cecil, all living near Warsaw; Miss Iva Lozier, at home. An open house will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 o'clock for friends and neighbors.

    Jack Sellars and Clifford Pifer, Warsaw, were ordered to leave Fort Benjamin Harrison at once for March Field, Cal. William (Buck) Leedy, former curly-haired shoe clerk in Warsaw, has his marching orders for Fort Bliss, Texas.
