Ten Commandments Series Looks At Idols

SILVER LAKE — Pastor Duane Seitz will continue a special teaching series on The Ten Commandments at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at  Silver Lake Wesleyan Church.

This week’s topic is the second commandment: “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything…” The title of the sermon is  “How to Carve Your Own God.”

Teaching will be with PowerPoint and individual study notes.

“My goal is to get the family back to basic foundational, Bible truth,” Seitz said.

The church is at 106 W. Walnut St., Silver Lake. Parking is on the north side of the church, main entrance on the east.

IF:Gathering For Women Is Feb. 9-10

NORTH MANCHESTER — Tens of thousands of women worldwide will participate in the IF:Gathering on Feb. 9-10, and a livestream of the event is planned locally.

The IF:Gathering “provides space for women to wrestle with essential questions of faith, to dream and to connect.” It will represent a variety of cultures and denominations.

The nonprofit was born out of a vision from Jennie Allen, author of “Restless” and “Nothing to Prove.”

IF:Local will be at the Manchester University Jo Young Switzer Center from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Feb. 9 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 10. Registrations are being accepted at ifnorthmanchester@gmail.com. Lenten Day Retreat Planned March 19

Donaldson — Linden-wood Retreat and Confer-ence Center is offering a Lenten Day Retreat led by Father Jerry Schweitzer from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 19.

The topic centers around John the Baptist. Who was John the Baptist as shown in biblical literature and historical tradition? What was his impact upon Jesus and the community of his time and today?

 Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $35 per person, which includes lunch and refreshments. Mass will be offered.

Revival Meetings Will Begin Today

PIERCETON — Revival meetings are planned from today through Saturday at Free United Baptist Church.

The meetings will begin at 6 p.m. daily. The public is welcome.

The church is 4 miles south of Pierceton on Ind. 13.

Homecoming Celebration Sunday

CLAYPOOL — A homecoming celebration is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Early Apostolic Bible Training Center.

The service will feature Pastor Glenn Hall and the Hall family.

A carry-in dinner will follow the service. Everyone is welcome.

The church is on Ind. 15 just before the overhead bridge near Claypool.

‘Back To The Basics’ At Community Bible

Community Bible Church of Warsaw is going back to the basics in 2018.

Each Sunday will focus on the life of Jesus. Worshippers will be disciples who “come and see” in an effort to “follow him.”
