Storytellers Will Share ‘Keeping Faith’

NORTH MANCHESTER — Storytellers Kim Schultz, Rohina Malik and Susan Stone are coming to Manchester University to share stories from their own faiths — Christian, Jewish and Muslim — to transcend differences through shared belief in the power of compassion.

"Keeping Faith: Three Sisters of Story" will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cordier Auditorium on the North Manchester campus.

This event is free and open to the public. A question-and-answer session will follow the storytelling.

The performance is sponsored by the MU Peace Studies Institute through support from the Paul A. and Rachel Hartsough Phillips Endowment Fund. It is part of the MU Values, Ideas and the Arts series.

Final Boat-in Worship Service Is Sunday

SYRACUSE — Sunday is the final boat-in worship service this season on Lake Wawasee.

Musician is Janet Norris,  worship leader is Harlan Steffen and the Rev. Josh Weiland will give the sermon “Eternal Light.”

Bagpipe player Scott Abbs will play prelude music while trolling around the boats, chauffeured by lake resident Bill Coon.

The service is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Sunday in front of  Oakwood Inn. Visitors can sit on the Oakwood shore, board the S.S. Lillypad at The Frog at 7:30 a.m. or come by boat.

Free Hot Dog Lunch Planned Saturday

A free hot dog lunch is planned this weekend in the parking lot at Christian Life Apostolic Church.

The lunch will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, while supplies last. Everyone is welcome.

The church is at 127 S. Lincoln St., Warsaw.

Hog Roast, Concert At South Pleasant UMC

SILVER LAKE — A free hog roast and concert featuring Jimmy Dooley are planned Sunday at South Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Dooley began singing at age 5 and preaching at age 14. He became seriously ill at age 17 and was not expected to live,   he says, but he and his family never gave up hope through prayers and faith.

“God is using me, inspiring me to write songs like ‘I Survived’ that hit home with just about everybody who has faced a hard time or tragedy in their life,” he says.

People may begin gathering for the hog roast at 4 p.m. The meal will be at 5 p.m., and the concert will be at 6 p.m. A singles fellowship will follow the concert.

The church is 3 miles south of Silver Lake on Ind. 15 at CR 1400N.

Final UMC Lakeside Service Is Sunday

NORTH WEBSTER — The final lakeside worship service of North Webster United Methodist Church is planned for Sunday.

The service will be at 7:30 a.m. at Dixie Park, North Webster. The chancel choir will be the program.

The church offers Sunday lakeside services from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Beef And Noodle Dinner Friday In Claypool

CLAYPOOL — A beef and noodle dinner is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Claypool United Methodist Church.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for youth ages 7-12, and free for children 6 and younger. Carry-outs will be available.

Anyone who brings a canned item will receive 50 cents off their meal.

All proceeds go to the church and its missions projects.

The church is at 302 E. Section St., Claypool.
