Dr. Alberta M. Hanson will celebrate her 90th birthday on Sunday, March 11.

She is being celebrated by the extended John C. Whitcomb family in Indianapolis with a three-day bash.

The celebration began Friday with a watercolor paint and pizza party led by “Bertie.” A dinner celebration is planned today at Hollyhock Hills Restaurant.  The celebration will conclude Sunday with family members from Indiana, California, Pennsylvania, Florida and Idaho attending church together at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, followed by a catered meal.

Alberta attended Grace College in the ’50s and taught at Beaver Dam Elementary for two years before travelling worldwide and eventually settling in Southern California to work as the Christian education director for several large churches, and finally as an elementary school teacher.

Bertie returned to Winona Lake in 2012, taking up residence with her sister Willetta Edmiston in the Robinhood Homes of Grace Village.  As a graduate of Grace Schools, she has continued to audit a variety of classes at Grace College over the past 5½ years.

Cards may be sent to Alberta at 530 S 325 E, Warsaw, IN 46582, where she resides with her niece Linda Dilling and spouse Richard Dilling.
