American Association Of University Women

The Warsaw branch of the American Association of University Women met Oct. 17 at Miller’s Merry Manor.  

Deb Blatz, secretary, presided over the meeting in the absence of President Pam Chastain. A program was given on the use of Young Living essential oils. The ladies discussed the purity of the oils and their use for skin conditions, aches and pains, stress and general wellness.  

The business meeting included discussion about the program booklet and the meeting in November, which is the silent auction to raise money for scholarships.

A guest, Nancy Wais, was welcomed by the group.  

Tuesday Night Bridge Group

On Oct. 17 the group had six tables, with the following winners: Tom Anderson, John Stewart, Joyce Latta, Judy Stewart, Rosalee Spear, John Wagley and Jim Levandis.  

Janet and John Wagley are hostess and host for October.

Singles Meeting Friends

Only five people made it to the Oct. 13 game night, but turnout was a little better at the weekly meeting Oct. 18, with eight in attendance.

Donald led the conversations as he showed the damage to his Florida home with many pictures and his plans for repairs.  Ray has arrived at his Florida home to inspect it in person and begin repairs.  

Donald also talked about computers and cellphones since he had researched them prior to his recent purchases of both. The group also talked about cars and their necessity in daily living.  

The Christmas party will be at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Vickie’s.

Singles Meeting Friends meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the deli at Martin’s Super Market.

Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

The group met Oct. 18 at The Great Wall, with Barb Calhan as hostess.

Winners were Calhan, Joan Earhart and Nannette Newland.

North Webster Community Center SPEC Bridge

NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge winners this week at the Senior Prime Enrichment Center have been announced.

On Oct. 17, Andy Overmyer was first and Mike Wyrick was second.

On Oct. 19, Suze Wilt was first and Wyrick was second.

Pizza King Bridge Group

The Pizza King bridge group met Oct. 19, with Karyl Smith serving as hostess.  

Winners were Ann Thallemer and Dian Cartwright.  

The group will meet again Thursday.  

Winona Literary Club

The Winona Literary Club met  Oct. 18 at the Robin Hood Community Building with 25 members present.

Guest speaker, Dorothy Herring, spoke on "Star Wearers: Citizens' Police Academy," which she attended recently. The several-week course of study focused on police duties, regulations and organization. Club members gained much information about law enforcement people and what they do for the community.
