After cancelling the banquet in 2021 due to COVID, Echoes of the Past decided to proceed with this year’s banquet after much consideration.
Fun and fellowship was had by all in attendance with a few fun surprises along the way, according to a news release from the club.
The evening kicked off with social hour from before digging in to a carry-in dinner. After dinner, outgoing president Thames Goon, who has served the club in some capacity for 15 years, had a surprise visitor and was serenaded by a giant banana. Following the serenade, the club welcomed guest speaker Stephanie Overbey, chief executive officer of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. She presented information to the club on endowments and how to bequest money to a nonprofit organization. Her knowledge of the foundation and its benefits was very enlightening and well received, the release states.
Before commencing in the fun of our white elephant gift exchange and trivia game for the evening, it was time to announce the results of the club’s election and the club’s honorary member for 2021. The club appreciates all the hard work and dedication Kyle Miller provides to enhance the Echoes of the Past purpose and his help in making its events such a success, according to the release.
Miller is a volunteer fireman, the chaplain for Kosciusko County Fireman’s Association and the 2021 Honorary Member of the Echoes of the Past.
The members of the club voted in new club president Randy Runkle and new Vice President Dan Ransbottom. Melinda Miller and Jackie Clase will continue as secretary and treasurer, respectively. New board of director members Duane Harman and Keith Young will join Tom Groninger, Jessica Joy and Rodney Keirn to round out the advisory board.
