Winona Literary Club Met

WINONA LAKE – The Winona Literary Club met Wednesday at Robin Hood Community Center for their 118th year. They meet September through April, every two weeks, at 1:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, there were 21 members present and one guest, Laura Bixel.

The featured speaker was Shannon Jenks, South Bend regional director for Ryan’s Case for Smiles. Founded in 2007, Jenks sewed for 11 years and then took leadership after her retirement from DePuy in 2019. Ryan’s Case for Smiles (formerly ConKerr Cancer) was founded in 2007 to bring comfort and support to young patients and their families in hospitals around the globe. They provide whimsical pillowcases for an emotional boost. Their website is https://caseforsmiles.org. They are in over 360 hospitals and help over 75,000 children annually.

The fall decorations and refreshments were hosted and provided by Phyllis Borkholder and Anna Mae Lantz.

The next meeting will be Dec. 1 at 1:30 p.m.. at Robin Hood Community Center. The meeting will include a book review and Leila Bailey with her Dulcimer Players.

The Winona Literary Club welcomes community ladies to join.



Bridge Was Played At SPEC

NORTH WEBSTER – Bridge was played at SPEC at the North Webster Community Center.

On Tuesday, Jean Cowan came in first and Bill Thompson came in second. On Thursday, Jean Cowan came in first and  Dick Sutton came in second.



ABC Bridge Club Played

The ABC Bridge Club met at the Red Apple Restaurant with Peggy Lee as hostess.

Winners were  Virginia Horn and Karyl Smith.



Thursday Bridge Club Met

Winners of Thursday Bridge Club at Maria’s were Elaine Tripp, Linda Baird, Leigh Watkins, Beth Huffer and Carol Freeman.
