A construction update on the North Pointe Drive rehabilitation was released Tuesday afternoon by Phend & Brown Inc., the contractors for the city project.

The construction is from Husky Trail to Mariners Drive, and dates are subject to changing weather conditions. Traffic control signage and detour markings will be provided in advance of and during any closures.

North Pointe Drive will remain closed betweeny Husky Trail and Mariners Drive, according to the release. Local traffic for businesses and residents will have access only from Mariners Drive. No traffic will be allowed to access North Pointe Drive from Husky Trail.

On Thursday, surface milling to remove the existing asphalt on top of the concrete pavement will be performed. Flaggers will direct traffic around the milling and cleaning operation. Drivers should expect significant delays during this operation.

On Monday, road fabric will be installed over the existing concrete pavement. HMA Intermediate will be installed over the road fabric. Flaggers will direct traffic around the fabric and paving operations. Drivers should expect significant delays during these operations.

On Tuesday, HMA Surface will be installed. Flaggers will direct traffic around the paving operation, and drivers should expect significant delays during the operation.

Contruction will continue with installation of pavement markings, sidewalks and concrete drive approaches.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes due to anticipated traffic delays, the release states. The project is anticipated to be completed by November.
