A NET 43 interdiction detail led to the arrest of a Syracuse man on methamphetamine charges on Sept. 25.

David Charles Reed, 46, of 9811 N. Majestic Way, Syracuse, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:21 p.m. Sept. 26 on initial charges of manufacturing/dealing methamphetamine. His preliminary bond was set at $20,000 surety and $250 cash.

A news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office listed the charges against Reed as dealing methamphetamine, level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine, level 5 felony; possession of methamphetamine, level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, Class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

The release also states that on Sept. 25,  a traffic stop was conducted on a Buick, driven by Reed, on Hatchery Road near the southern end of Lake Wawasee. During the traffic stop, a canine from the Winona Lake Police Department alerted officers to the presence of narcotics within the Buick. Officers then found methamphetamine, paraphernalia, marijuana, weight scales and empty plastic bags while searching the vehicle.

Reed was arrested for the charges resulting from the traffic stop by NET 43 and is incarcerated in the jail.

NET 43 was assisted by the Warsaw and Winona Lake Police Departments, KCSO, Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Indiana State Police, the release states.

Another release from the KCSO states that during the NET 43 September interdiction detail on Sept. 25, enforcement action included one warning, one consensual encounter, two vehicle searches, one K9 usage, five criminal defendants, 10 felony arrests and six misdemeanor arrests.

Illegal narcotics seized include 65.4 grams of methamphetamine, five hits of LSD, 2 grams of marijuana, numerous paraphernalia items and $9,588.

Participating in the interdiction were KCSO, WPD, WLPD and ISP.
