A Mishawaka man was charged Thursday for his involvement in a jail inmate’s death in March.

Christopher Aaron Susaraba, 28, had additional charges of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death and trafficking with an inmate applied to him.

After an investigation, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office determined Susaraba had methamphetamine and heroin in a body cavity prior to incarceration, according to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses said Susaraba provided McCrory narcotics in a jail cell block. After receiving the drugs, McCrory became lethargic and overdosed, the press release states.

Jail officers initiated life-saving measures on McCrory and Narcan was administered, without any reversal of McCrory’s condition.

An autopsy indicated McCrory died from acute mixed drug intoxication.

Susaraba has been in custody since March 6 in regard to a failure to appear on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

His bond is $100,250.
