Editor, Times-Union:
On behalf of the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club, we would like to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, individual contributors, athletes and others that helped to make the 18th annual triathlon a success.

This race is a win-win-win for all involved because it generates funding for Optimist Club projects directed to support youth activities; brings money into our community through our merchants and provides a healthy entertainment venue for the participants. The triathlon attracted 688 participants and it took the combined effort of many to conduct this very successful charitable event.

We would like to thank those citizens that are unintentionally inconvenienced by this event, especially the citizens of Winona Lake and those that use Pierceton Road. Thank you to the other organizations that without your help this event would not be possible. We are fortunate that we live in a community where volunteers from the private organizations like the Second Adventures Motorcyle Club and the Winona Lake Hotel Property Owners Association join hands to help the Optimist Club host one of the largest triathlon events in northern Indiana. The athletes frequently commented that the people in this area are the most friendly, courteous and helpful that they encounter.

Our most sincere thank you!
Ron Donkers, race director
