Editor, Times-Union:
What an honor, what a flight.

I will forever be beholden to John Sadler, Dave Colquitt and Gary Eastlund for nominating me to the "Northeast Indiana Honor Flight" group and then for accepting me.

On Tuesday Oct. 4, it was a day myself and 80-some WWII vets, the same number of  “guardians” assigned to us for all day. We gathered at the Fighter Squadron Mess Hall at 6 a.m. and returned at approximately 9:45 p.m.

We flew to Baltimore then bused to D.C. to see the WWII Memorial, many other memorials, and finished at Arlington Cemetery to observe the changing of the guard. My sister Betty Jo and brother-in-law Col. Ernest Wade are buried there.

Dave Colquitt also made the trip and my "guardian" Julie Kylan, a Fort Wayne attorney, really had a memorable, beyond-exceptions, day.
