Play It Safe Family Safety Day, sponsored by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and Kosciusko REMC, was blessed again this year with a beautiful day and an excellent turnout. An estimated crowd of 4,500 attended this free event on September 10 featuring important health and safety messages in a fun and friendly environment.

Thanks goes out to the following that made monetary or grant donations to help fund this special day. Kudos to K21 Health Foundation, Biomet, Symmetry Medical, DePuy, Donan Engineering, Grossnickle Eye Center, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Kosciusko REMC Operation Round Up, Medtronic, Paragon Medical, Allegra Printing, Sugar Land Bakery, North Pointe Cinemas and Papa John’s.

Other participants in the event included: Warsaw Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Multi-Township EMS, American Red Cross, Animal Welfare League, The Beaman Home, Bicycle Friendly Community, the Mizpah Shrine Clowns, Bob Evans Farms Restaurant, CANI, Department of Child Service, Farm Safety 4 Just Kids, Grossnickle Eye Center, Healthy Families Kosciusko County, Healthworks Kids’ Museum and the Healthworks Hummer, Indiana Conservation Officers, Indiana Organ Procurement Organization, Kosciusko Community Hospital, Kosciusko Community YMCA, Kosciusko County 9/11 Remembrance Committee, Kosciusko County EMA, Kosciusko County Health Dept., Kosciusko County WIC Program, Kosciusko County LAW Dogs, McDonald’s, Safe Kids, St. Joseph Hospital Burn Center, Wal-Mart Vision Center. Thanks to the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church volunteers, Carmen Chapman face painting, to the American Red Cross for donating kids games, to Lowe’s for the Build & Grow activity kits, and to The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist’s Club for their Safe Assured ID Kits for kids. And special thanks goes to the Parkview Hospital Samaritan helicopter for putting on a wonderful display as it arrived and departed from Central Park.

An event of this magnitude couldn’t happen without the generosity of all the groups and individuals who participated in making this a truly special day. And special thanks, too, to all the families who attended in order to learn more about keeping their families safe in a variety of situations.
