Editor, Times-Union:
The Thirteenth Annual Coat Drive to benefit people in our community who are in need of warm winter wear was a huge success. We had another wonderful year, your response was overwhelming!  We are so fortunate to live in a caring and giving community.  Kerlin Motor Company Inc in Silver Lake was the coat drive and collection headquarters.  The collection box was a 2011 Ford Transit Connect in the showroom and the coats filled the vehicle and were pouring onto the floor.  There were 1154 coats donated as well as many boots, hats and gloves.  Combined Community Service was very appreciative.

I want to publicly thank all of the co-sponsors; Times Union for advertising, Willie 103.5, ESPN 1480 and WRSW 107.3 FM for advertising and being a collection sites, Wildman Uniform and Linen and Peerless Cleaners for being collection sites and laundering and dry cleaning all of the coats, hats, scarves and gloves.

I personally want to thank everyone who donated coats and accessories, and  I want to send a special thank you to the people who purchased new items.  Your kindness is greatly appreciated.  This year we had donations of handmade hats, scarves and slippers. This gift of love will touch many. CCS and I thank the anonymous, talented and caring people.

Many of us have more coats than we need; what a glorious feeling to know someone will stay warm this winter because we shared something as simple as a coat.
