Emergency personnel arrived on scene and found a 2023 Mazda CX-5, driven by Cesar Mendoza Martinez, 25, of Jupiter, Fla., and a 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Nathaniel Foster, 33, Wabash.
The preliminary investigation determined that Martinez was driving east on CR 900N and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection with Ind. 15. Martinez’s vehicle then entered the intersection and hit the Ford Escape. Foster’s Escape was traveling north on Ind. 15.
After the impact of the crash, both vehicles came to a rest on the property at 484 W. CR 900N, the release states.
Foster was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office as a result of his injuries suffered in the motor vehicle crash.
Martinez complained of chest pain. His front-seat passenger, Kate J. Martinez, 22, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., complained of arm pain and was taken by Lutheran EMS for treatment. A back-seat passenger, Rosa Ibarra Martinez, 47, Port St. Lucie, complained of a facial injury.
KCSO was assisted at the scene by Milford Fire Department, Kosciusko County Central Dispatch, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and Raven’s Wrecker Service.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT.
