There was a line for the free carriage rides, a line for Santa’s House and when the Twinkle Light parade headed down Center Street, there were lines of people on both sides of the street.
It all took place during the Downtown Warsaw Christmas Celebration on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club moved their popular Santa’s House to the corner of Center and Buffalo streets for last night’s activities. Evelyn Boldt was one of the children who visited with Santa Claus, after she gave him a present - a Christmas tree she decorated. In return, she got to tell him what she wanted for Christmas, a picture and a candy cane.
The carriage rides were provided by Saylor’s End of the Trail Riding Stable out of Walkerton. The rides were free thanks to the city of Warsaw hiring them, and the riding stable has been participating in Warsaw’s First or Third Friday for eight to nine years. Besides carriage rides, they also offer a petting zoo, pony rides, horseback riding and sleigh rides. They do private and commercial events. For more information or scheduling, call 574-532-1840.

Before the parade started, Warsaw’s Got Talent winner Natalie Linnemeier sang a few Christmas songs at the Willie 103.5 FM tent.
In the parade, vehicles were festively decorated with lights and other Christmas decor.
Participating in the parade were Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, country gospel singer Susie McEntire, Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Warsaw, Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer, Warsaw Public Works and Street Department, elves, the Grinch, dancers, Fouce Landscaping, Crawford Construction and Remodeling, Lutheran EMS, Fellowship Mission’s food truck It’s All Good, Woodcock’s Welding, ServPro, Montgomery Trucking Inc., Midwest Eye Consultants, KPS Commercial Construction, Fidelity National Title, Take Action and The Salvation Army coming up the rear.
The parade went down to Center Lake where the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department’s Light Up the Night was taking place from 6 to 8 p.m.
Many food and gift vendors could be found around the courthouse lawn.
Downtown Warsaw Christmas Celebration was hosted by Main Street Warsaw in partnership with Kensington Digital Media, the city of Warsaw and the Chamber of Commerce.
The event was sponsored by the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation.
