Driver Cited For Failure To Yield In Crash

ELKHART COUNTY - Only minor injuries were reported after a two-vehicle crash Thursday after a Milford woman allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of CRs 17 and 20 in Elkhart County.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz PC, driven by Anna Mooney, 28, Elkhart, was traveling south on CR 17 at 7:06 a.m. Thursday when she collided with a 2004 Ford Explorer SUV, driven by Kaitlin Vanfleeren, 19, Milford. The SUV was turning left from the northbound lane of CR 17.
The SUV overturned as a result of the crash. It sustained damage all over. The Chevy sustained front-end damage.
Mooney was taken to Goshen Hospital by ambulance for minor bleeding in her mouth from the airbag.
Vanfleeren was examined by medics on scene and declined further medical treatment, the release states. She was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
