Baseball

Wawasee at NorthWood

ELKHART – Wawasee extended its winning streak to six and will extend its season for at least another week after defeating NorthWood 9-5 in the championship game of IHSAA 3A Sectional 21 at Jimtown High School Monday afternoon. The Warriors are now 13-14 after disposing of their Northern Lakes Conference opponent.

Kaleb Salazar capped off what was a very impressive sectional, going 3-3 and driving in four runs. Lucas Ringler had a base hit and drove in two. Dylan Stump got in on the fun with a solo home run. Ty Brooks picked up the win on the mound, going five innings and striking out six. Grant Brooks came in as a relief pitcher and struck out four in two innings.

Wawasee will take on New Castle at Oak Hill High School Saturday at 11 a.m. in the regional.

Whitko at Carroll

WABASH – Whitko saw its season come to an end at the hands of a tough Carroll team in the championship of IHSAA 2A Sectional 37 championship game Monday. The Wildcats finish the season with a 9-18 record.

Whitko will return next season.
