CARMEL – Manchester University sophomore Izzy Dittmar has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Dittmar (Warsaw) had an outstanding week for the Spartans, helping guide the Black & Gold to a 6-4 mark during its Spring Break trip in Florida.

Dittmar went a combined 15-29 (.517) at the plate with two doubles, two triples, and nine RBI. Dittmar was also a perfect 3-3 on stolen base attempts and is currently on an 8-game hitting streak.

The Spartans picked up wins over Lawrence, SUNY Cobleskill, Keuka, Bates, Centre, and Middlebury.

Manchester University senior Blake Rentschler has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Rentschler went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend, winning a pair of no. 2 doubles matches with fellow teammate Samuel Hollingsworth 6-3, 6-0. Renstchler also won both of his no. 4 singles matchups, winning 6-4, 6-3 against Bethel (Ind.) and 6-0, 6-0 against Grace Christian. His efforts helped the Spartans to their first win of the season against Grace Christian as Manchester topped the Tigers 6-1.

Manchester University senior Mallory Sands has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Sands (Gas City) helped key the Black & Gold's first win of the season over the weekend against Grace Christian. Sands teamed up with Avin Demaso for a 6-3 win at no. 3 Doubles. Sands would then rally for a thrilling three-set win at no. 4 singles 4-6, 6-1, 12-10.

The Spartans' win over the Tigers were their first victory since September 2019.
