Briscoe Named Crossroads AD Of The Year For Fourth Time

Briscoe was recognized this week as the Crossroads League Athletic Director of the Year. It marks the fourth time that Briscoe has received the AD of the Year distinction (including 2021, 2017, 2010).
“I am humbled to receive this award. It is a direct reflection of the tremendous coaches and student-athletes we have at Grace and their commitment to working with Christian excellence throughout the year. I am thankful for the platform we have been given at Grace College to live out and share Christ in the arena of athletics,” Briscoe said. “I serve alongside outstanding athletic directors in the league. They are all friends who work at an extremely high level, who sharpen me professionally and work with excellence on a daily basis.”
Additionally, Briscoe was named the 2022 NAIA AD of the Year by NACDA, and he will be honored this week at the NACDA National Convention in Las Vegas.
The Lancers achieved success across the school year in 2021-22. Grace sent six teams to the NAIA National Championships and had several others ranked in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll during the year.
Men’s (22nd) and women’s (15th) cross country enjoyed some of their best finishes ever at the NAIA race. Women’s soccer earned their fourth straight trip to NAIAs.
The track and field team had its best performance ever at the NAIA outdoor championships. The men earned their first top-10 finish and had their first NAIA individual champion (Isaac Brown, high jump), the women had their first individual All-Americans, and both programs enjoyed their best team finishes in team history.
As a result, the men’s cross country and track and field teams were honored as No. 8 in the USTFCCCA rankings for NAIA Program of the Year.
Men’s basketball advanced to the Round of 16 at the NAIA tournament. The men’s basketball team made its deepest run in the tournament since 2013 and won the Crossroads League Tournament for the first time since 2012. Grace’s 27 wins this year were the most in program history since 1991-92.
At the NCCAA level, Grace won five national championships including men’s and women’s cross country, women’s soccer, men’s tennis and men’s outdoor track and field. As a result, Grace repeated as the winner of the NCCAA’s Presidential Award — honoring the top athletic department in the NCCAA.
Briscoe is heavily involved in NAIA leadership positions. He has been a member of the National Administrative Council (NAC) for the past six years. For three years he was on the NAC's Executive Committee, chairing the Championships and Competition Committee. He was recently elected to be the vice chair for the NAC's Executive Committee this past summer.
He is also the NAC's sport liaison for men's basketball, helping assist the sport through its transition to a single-single-division national tournament. He also served on the first two NAIA Men's Basketball Selection Committees, which select and seed the national tournament teams.
Under Briscoe’s leadership, Grace has cemented its status as an academic powerhouse as well. Every Lancer team has achieved NAIA Scholar-Team status for five straight seasons. Teams must post a GPA of 3.00 or greater to earn Scholar-Team recognition. Last year, the athletic department had an overall GPA of 3.47, marking the highest overall GPA in department history.
