McGregor To Transition Roles At Grace

McGregor will step away from her role as an assistant women’s basketball coach and will assume a new position of Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) as an Assistant Athletic Director.
McGregor becomes the first SWA in Grace’s history. The SWA is a new position, created to help promote meaningful representation of women in leadership and management at Grace; it also provides an identifiable female presence with whom staff and student-athletes can communicate.
McGregor will continue with her other roles on campus as well, including directing Grace’s sport management major within the business department.
Rachel Montgomery will be promoted from a graduate assistant coach to the lead assistant coach under head coach Dan Davis for Grace women’s basketball.
“Student-athletes are my passion, and basketball has been my ways and means of impacting them. Basketball opened the door for me to come to Grace, and the Lord has shifted my focus from working with a single team to the entire campus as a whole,” McGregor said. “I am so thankful to Coach Briscoe and Coach Davis for allowing me to make an impact for Christ while coaching. I am also grateful to Coach Briscoe, along with Aaron Crabtree, Laurie Owen and Jeff Fawcett for allowing me to lead the sport management program while staying in athletics as the SWA.”
The Lady Lancers enjoyed some of their best seasons with McGregor on the sidelines. This winter, Grace tied the record for most wins in a single season (20), reaching the 20-win mark for the third time in team history. The squad also reached the NCCAA National Championships for the seventh consecutive season and advanced to the semifinals of the Crossroads League Tournament.
“I’m so thankful for Coach McGregor and her service for the past four years. She has helped build our foundation to where we are today. Her dedication to the program and players is unmatched, and it’s been a real pleasure to work alongside her,” said Grace head coach Dan Davis. “Carol is still family to us, and I’m thankful that she will continue to have a role in our department and campus. I’m excited for this next stage of her career and to see the impact that she will have on our student-athletes.”
Grace’s Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe added: “Carol has done a tremendous job over the past four years, coaching while also leading in several main areas on campus. I appreciate her commitment to Christian excellence as she has served at Grace. I am excited for her to continue to impact student-athletes as she leads in the classroom and the athletic department.”
Montgomery will step in as the lead assistant under Davis for the Lady Lancers. She is no stranger to the team, having served as a graduate assistant coach for the past two years. She also was a four-year player on Grace’s squad from 2016-20.
“Rachel has been part of Grace women’s basketball even longer than I have. It will be a natural transition because of her experience as a player and a coach,” Davis said. “She knows our culture, knows Grace and knows me. I’m excited for the opportunity to continue building this program alongside her. Rachel is an example of what we hope the byproduct of our program is. Her character, heart for others and desire to make a difference in the world is clear.”
