NAPPANEE – With the fall sports calendar rapidly filling up, the Warsaw and Wawasee girls golf teams made their way to McCormick Creek Golf Course Thursday for the NorthWood Invitational.

Warsaw fielded three teams in the tournament, with the A-team, Warsaw Black, coming in fourth place after shooting 366 as a team. The Wawasee athletes shot a combined 447 on the day, which put them in 12th. Penn would take first place in the 18-team tournament with a team score of 326.

The Tigers had some individuals finish the day on the podium, as Abbey Peterson’s 80 on the day earned her fourth place honors. Olivia Robinson-Gay would finish in sixth place after shooting an 82. Leading the way for the Warriors were Riley Firestone, who nearly missed out on a podium spot with an 87, and Francie McDonald, who shot a 112.

Warsaw will be a part of the field at the Twin Lakes Invitational Saturday, while Wawasee travels to Manchester to take on the Lady Squires Monday.
