Tiger Softball Drops Fifth Straight 14-3

The Tigers, who started the season with solid hitting, are working hard to get out of their current offensive slump. The hosts scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning last night to break a four-game, 15-inning scoreless stretch.
Infielder Kali Ousley and Avery Sleeth hit consecutive doubles, and each scored to close Warsaw within two runs of the Minutemen, 4-2, headed into the fifth frame.
The two NLC combatants had a scoreless fifth inning before the guests racked up 10 runs, 3 and 7 runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings, respectively before boarding the bus victorious.
Ousley finished the night batting 2 for 3 with the aforementioned run scored on a double. Sleeth added a 1-3 performance at the plate with an RBI. Kendyll Landis batted Sleeth in with a sacrifice fly. Lauren Eastwood added the fourth Tiger hit of the night with a single in three at bats.
Marisol Bowers went the distance for Warsaw, and her won-loss record drops to 2-3.
Despite the recent hitting woes, the Tigers have some strong hitting performances among the midseason totals.
Eastwood leads Warsaw in batting average (.519), hits (18), home runs (3), and RBI (14). Sleeth is also carrying a .500 batting average into the action this weekend and Monday, leading the team with 8 doubles and two triples. Eastwood and Sleeth also lead the way with .914 and .875 slugging percentages, respectively.
Landis (.312), Ousley (.303), and Addy Williams (.300) are additional Tigers with averages at or above .300 with at least 22 at bats.
The sophomore trio of Mak Holder (9 stolen bases), Aubrey Sparks (7 SB), and Nat Holder (6 SB) are the Tigers leading thieves on the basepaths.
Warsaw hosts Huntington North in a doubleheader at 10 a.m. this morning marking their sixth and seventh games among six consecutive days. The Tigers will host Mishawaka Monday at the Tiger Softball Complex. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
