Lady Lancers Earn Plethora Of All-League Awards

Gina Novotny, Anna Frey, Cassadi Colbert, Jenna Mueller and Alisha Leffring all picked up recognition for their outstanding seasons for the Lady Lancers.
Frey was a First Team All-League honoree after leading Grace with 336 kills on offense. She averaged 3.1 kills per set and hit at a .145 percentage.
Novotny wrapped up her career as a Second Team representative. The senior libero racked up 565 digs and 22 aces for Grace. She finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in digs, amassing 2,508 digs in her remarkable career.
Colbert, Mueller and Leffring each were honorable mention for All-League. Colbert had 179 kills and 2.2 kills per set on a .159 percentage. Mueller had 209 kills on a .296 clip, and Leffring added 234 kills at a rate of .254.
Leffring was also named to the six-player All-Freshman Team for the league.
Five Lancers Earn All-League Honors
WINONA LAKE - Following an impressive regular season, Grace’s men’s soccer team had five players receive All-Crossroads League honors.
Ze Maria Goncalves was named the league’s Midfielder of the Year. The junior played in 18 games and racked up 14 points (3 goals, 8 assists).
Martim Cardoso was named the league’s Newcomer of the Year. The junior burst onto the scene with a team-leading 12 goals to go along with two assists. He scored multiple goals in three games and also had a four-match goal streak.
Goncalves and Cardoso were also First Team All-League honorees. Joining them on the First Team were Jonny Mora and Dan Allen.
Matteo Conci picked up honorable mention recognition for All-League after serving as Grace’s goalkeeper for every minute of the season.
The Lancers played one of the most challenging schedules in the NAIA. After a slow start, the Lancers finished the year on a hot streak. Grace won five straight matches late in the regular season to finish runner-up in the Crossroads League.
Grace’s postseason is still alive. The Lancers will host Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the finals of the NCCAA Midwest Region. The winner of Saturday’s match will advance to the 2021 NCCAA National Championships in Kissimmee, Fla., beginning Nov. 29.
