Jon Fussle is the seventh and final person who has filed their declaration for candidacy for the at-large county council seat opened up by the death of Council President Bob Sanders.

Deadline to file with Kosciusko County Republican Party Chairman Mike Ragan was 7 p.m. Sunday.

Sanders died May 14 at the age of 69. He was elected to the council in 2005 and had served as council president the past four years.

In the 7 p.m. Republican caucus Wednesday in the old county courthouse, Fussle will seek the seat against Harold Jones, North Webster; Brett Harter, Leesburg; Kim Cates, Syracuse; Tressa Nichols, North Webster; Paul Finley, Warsaw; and Josh Finch, Warsaw.

Calls and emails to Fussle were not returned as of this morning.

Fussle ran for and was elected to one of the three county council at-large seats in 2012 after pushing out Tom Anglin in the primary. Two years later, while still serving on the council, he ran for the county commissioner southern district seat, but lost to Bob Conley 38 to 62 percent.

In 2010, Fussle ran against and lost to Conley for the commissioners seat.

Fussle did not seek re-election to council in 2016.
