A Pierceton man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly molesting a child under the age of 14.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer was advised June 30 that an incident of child molestation had occurred at 8280 E. US 30, No. 52, Pierceton, and that the victim was at Kosciusko Community Hospital, according to an affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
The officer arrived at the hospital and spoke with a male subject, who said that on June 30 he was sleeping at the residence but woke up to check on the female victim, who is under the age of 14. The man told police that when he walked into the girl’s bedroom, he saw Jack Knapp, 52, Pierceton, zipping up his pants.
The man told police he then spoke with the girl, who alleged Knapp had exposed himself and touched her inappropriately.
An officer later spoke with the victim, who said she was watching television at the residence when Knapp came in and started tickling her. He then allegedly exposed himself and touched her.
Knapp admitted to the incident when the officer spoke with him.
Knapp was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of child molesting and was held on a $10,000 bond.
