The 4-H Livestock Auction Friday at the Kosciusko County Fair brought in a record $438.547.29.
“We enjoyed a record sale again this year in part to the highest market prices we have ever had on all livestock species,” said Kelly Heckaman, Purdue Extension educator.
The total, which includes $5,330.60 from the Buyers Support Group, beat last year’s record of $384,562.44.
The 4-H Queen Kiss, from Hannah Tucker, Milford, was auctioned for $1,100 to friends and family. Proceeds will go to the Beef Barn and Kosciusko County 4-H Livestock Judging Team.
The 4-H King Kiss, from Cody Demske, Claypool, sold for $535 to friends of Demske. Proceeds will go toward Junior Leader Memorial Garden.
The 1,325-pound Grand Champion Beef Steer owned by Jackson Templin, Milford, sold for $8,635. It was purchased by friends and family.
The 1,390-pound Reserve Grand Champion Beef Steer shown by Kalea Amiss, Claypool, was sold for $3,000 to Ransbottom Excavating and Trucking, Ransbottom Farms Inc. and Louis Dreyfus Commodities.
The 1,600-pound Grand Champion Dairy Steer shown by Jared Templin, Milford, sold for $3,955 to friends of Templin.
The Grand Champion Dairy Calf Feeder Steer exhibited by Ashley Beer, Milford, was purchased for $2,700 by Deatsman Grain Farm. The Reserve Grand Champion Dairy Calf Feeder Steer shown by Jared Beer, Milford, went for $3,300 to friends of Beer.
The Grand Champion Rabbit Meat Pen, Evan Wood, Claypool, went for $1,350 to friends of Wood. The Reserve Grand Champion Rabbit Meat Pen, Elizabeth Schmidt, sold for $1,200 to friends of Schmidt.
The Grand Champion Specialty Market Goat, Danielle Jenkins, Milford, sold for $2,500 to friends of Jenkins. The Grand Champion Dairy Market Goat, Ethan Moore, sold for $2,000 to friends of Moore. Grand Champion Senior Doe-Goat Milk, Jeremiah Wilson, Claypool, sold for $950 to friends of Wilson.
Grand Champion Market Lamb, Mallory Bowers, Warsaw, sold for $4,055 to friends of Bowers.
Grand Champion Barrow, Stephon Miller, Leesburg, sold for $12,500 to Stookey Show Pigs. Reserve Grand Champion Barrow, Emma Robinson, Silver Lake, went for $5,500 to friends of Robinson.
Grand Champion Holstein, Jordan Stookey, Milford, sold for $3,235 to friends of Stookey.
Grand Champion Broilers, Ashley Helfers, Leesburg, sold for $1,975 to friends and family.
Grand Champion Market Duck, Rachel Starrett, Milford, went for $1,235 to friends and family.
