Lolabell L. Sloan, 97, Warsaw, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 9, 2014, at her residence.
She was born July 12, 1917, in Warsaw, to Edward C. and Ethena L. Truex Weirick. On Jan. 30, 1937, in LaPorte, she married Dayton R. Sloan, who died Oct. 30, 1998.
She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and Warsaw and a 1935 graduate of Warsaw High School.
She worked in the Shrine Building for 13 years and for Thornburg’s Drug for 10 years. She was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Dancing Grannies. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as watching nature in the back yard.
Surviving are a daughter, Loretta Ann Reeder, Warsaw; six sons: Cary R. (and spouse Jan) Sloan, Atwood; Jerry D. Sloan, Buena Vista, Colo.; Steven L. (and fiance Jane Gramich) Sloan, St. Louis, Mo.; Dayton “Dick” (and spouse Sharon), Indianapolis; and David M. (and fiance Joan Parker) Sloan and John R. (and spouse Carol) Sloan, all of Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Carol Weirick; three sisters: Mary McCullough, Edna Truman and Georgia Baum; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer, Celebrations United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to services Thursday, at the funeral home.
