Joe Claude Simmons, Winona Lake, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Feb. 14, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, at the age of 65. 
He was born Aug. 6, 1951, in Bedford, to Vivian A. and Neva Owens Simmons. On April 16, 1977, in Servia, he was married to Sue Elaine Kreider Simmons, who survives in Winona Lake.  
He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Manchester High School, North Manchester, then attended Purdue University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in education degree in 1975. He worked for DePuy in Warsaw for over 30 years as an orthopedic sales representative. 
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, and Stonehenge Golf Club. He loved the outdoors and traveling to Longboat Key, Fla., with his family for 35 years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and mushroom hunting, but most of all he especially loved spending time with his family and granddaughters.  
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Brad (wife Whitney) Simmons, Westfield; a daughter, Abbie (husband Russ) Mann, Carmel; and two grandchildren, Ava and Annie Mann. He also leaves behind his father, Vivian A. Simmons, North Manchester; and sister, Sally (husband Bob) Vaccaro, Mansfield, Ohio. 
He was preceded by his mother. 
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 179 S. Indiana St., Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Mark Need. 
Visitation will be from noon to 2  p.m. Saturday at the church. 
Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
