Irene Rose Kahler, 78, Warsaw, peacefully passed away at 4:40 p.m. Aug. 5, 2014, into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at Select Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Warsaw to Merle and Ruth Bennett Riggens. On Oct. 5, 1960, she married Douglas D. Kahler, who died March 10, 2005.
She was a lifetime Warsaw resident, a homemaker and a machinist at Warsaw Orthopedics for 10 years. She was a member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge.
She enjoyed quilting, bowling, gardening, canning and fishing. She loved horses, enjoyed the water and was an excellent swimmer. She was a hard worker, and generous to a fault. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving are four daughters: Lucinda L. Kahler and Kasey LaRue, both of Warsaw; Ruth (and spouse David) Mast, Nappanee; Kristal (and spouse Greg) Prater, North Webster; one son, Douglas C. Kahler, Carbondale, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma “Pud” Parker, North Webster. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth “Bud” and Eddie Joe Riggens; and one sister, Merlene “Butchie” Blue.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, with Pastor Norm Reimer, Nappanee Missionary Church, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery.
