WAKARUSA – Earl Wiggins, 83, Wakarusa, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 8:10 a.m. July 3, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been a patient for one day.
He was born Jan. 4, 1931, in South Bend, to Everett and Ines Miller Wiggins. On May 27, 1950, in Wakarusa, he married Mardell Thews, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1954. He retired in 1990 from Plymouth Glass Company, which he had owned since 1957. He was a member of the Wakarusa Lions Club, had formerly attended Zion United Church of Christ and was currently attending First United Methodist Church, Goshen.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kathy (and spouse Garry) Anglemyer, Wakarusa; a son, Denny (and spouse Colleen) Wiggins, Wakarusa; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Keller, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a brother, Don (and spouse Cathy) Wiggins, Montana. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wiggins; a sister, Helen McNut; and four brothers, Floyd, Everett Jr., Ron and Jim Wiggins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa, with the Revs. Ed and Brenda Fritz officiating. Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
