The eighth-ranked Warsaw boys golf team kicked its season off with a seventh-place finish at Saturday’s Hall of Fame Invitational in Peru.
Playing on Rock Hollow Golf Club’s par-71 course, ninth-ranked Carmel took first place with a 307, followed by No. 1 Columbus North’s 324 and Brownsburg’s 329.
Columbia City was fourth with a 330, while the Warsaw Tigers shot a 337 for eighth and Northridge was 10th with a 345.
Individually, Carmel’s Jake Brown and Peru’s Cameron Smith each shot a 72.
Warsaw was led by Jonny Hollar’s 81, followed by Ryan Cultice’s 83, Will Petro’s 86, Brandon Eckert’s 87 and Josh Ahlersmeyer’s 88.
The Tigers travel south this Saturday for the Spring Preview at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin.

Hosting an invitational at Rozella Ford Golf Club Saturday, the Triton boys golf team finished second out of 12 teams. The LaVille Lancers placed first with a 336, while Triton shot a 344 on its home course. LaVille’s Zach Gurtner was the low score of the day, finishing with a 71, with Triton’s top score being Tanner Shepherd’s 79 on the par-70 course. Up next for the Triton Trojans is April 21’s three team,  meet with Mishawaka at John Glenn.

Saturday in South Whitley
The Whitko baseball team improved to 4-0 following a couple home wins over Argos Saturday afternoon. Winning the opening game 15-1 in five innings, Tanner Gaff got the win, with five players hitting doubles and three recording triples. The Wildcats were just as dominating in Game 2, winning 19-2 in five innings, as Zach Snep got the win and went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and a home run. The Wildcats host Wawasee Tuesday.

Saturday in Bourbon
The Triton softball team didn’t have much trouble getting a pair of home wins Saturday afternoon against Argos. Winning the first game of the doubleheader 12-2 in six innings, Brycelyn Garbison was the winning pitcher, as Hannah Jennings and Allyson Brown each hits a home run and had two RBIs. In Game 2’s 10-0, six-inning victory, Mallorie Jennings struck out eight Lady Dragons to get the win, while Hallie Zimmerman had a home and three RBIs. The Lady Trojans are at Tippecanoe Valley today, then host Caston, Tuesday.

Saturday in Bluffton
At Saturday’s Bluffton three-team invitational, the Whitko softball team fell 6-5 to Bluffton, then 7-4 against Central Noble. Against Bluffton, Aly Nicodemus was 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and Maddie Gawthrop was 2 for 3. In the second game, Nicodemus posted nine strikeouts, but got the loss, while Hanna Yohe was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. The 0-3 Lady Wildcats host Fort Wayne South Side Tuesday at 5 p.m.
