SYRACUSE — Despite outhitting the Fairfield Lady Falcons 9-8 Monday night, the Wawasee softball team fell 7-1 at home.
Wawasee sophomore Kylee Rostochak, senior Courtney Crabtree and junior Paige Hlutke each went 2 for 3 in the loss, with Crabtree scoring the team’s lone run.
Wawasee freshman pitcher Amber Lemberg went the distance, giving up eight hits and six walks.
Making things even tougher for the Lady Warriors were its six defensive errors, which led to five unearned runs.
The loss drops Wawasee to 2-1 going into tonight’s home game against Columbia City.

Monday in Kendallville
In a high-scoring game at East Noble Monday night, the Wawasee baseball team fell 17-10. Wawasee and East Noble each had nine hits in the game, but the Warriors committed eight errors, giving the Knights the edge. Junior Drew Anderson had a home run, three RBIs, two runs and a stolen base in the loss, while Nate Hare and Nate Prescott each had two hits. The 2-1 Wawasee Warriors are at Whitko today.
