NORTH MANCHESTER — The Manchester boys and girls track and field teams each nabbed a Three Rivers Conference victory against visiting Tippecanoe Valley Thursday night.
The Manchester boys won 11 of 15 events, getting the 72-51 victory, while the Lady Squires were also winners of 11 events, taking down the Lady Vikings 92-31.
Gary Blevins won both throwing events for the Squires, winning the discus with a distance of 121-5 and the shot with a 41-10, while Colin McNeeley won the 100 (11.3) and 200 (24.02), Brodi Carter won the 110 hurdles (17.01), high jump (6-0) and 300 hurdles (47.62) and Skyler Burke took first in the 1600 (5:21.01) and 3200 (11:47.75).
In the girls meet, Rae Bedke was the only multi-event winner, finishing first in the 1600 (5:37.76) and 800 (2:32.89).

The Wawasee boys track and field team opened Northern Lakes Conference action with a pair of wins Thursday at Goshen. In the three-team meet, Wawasee slipped past Northridge 67-65 and defeated host Goshen 71-61. Wawasee’s Clayton Cook won three events, including the 110 hurdles (15.29), 300 hurdles (41.22) and the 200 (22.30). Zach Cockrill and J.J. Gilmer also posted two wins each. The Warriors will be at Saturday’s Fort Wayne North Side Relays.

Whitko won 12 of the 16 events, including Miranda Terrill breaking her own school record in the high jump, clearing 5-6. Playing at Bethel College Thursday, the Warsaw baseball team improved its season record to 2-1 following a 13-0, five-inning win over South Bend Clay. Tied at 0-0 after three innings, Warsaw plated six runs in the fourth, then another seven in the fifth, causing the mercy rule to go into effect. In the win, Tyler LaFollette had two doubles and Ethyn Bradley, Caleb Moneyheffer and Dean Katris each had two hits. The 2-1 Warsaw Tigers are at Columbia City today.

Along with getting the win by pitching 4-2/3 innings, Kassidy Shepherd also hit the game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.
